Royal Caribbean International has revealed distinctive features of its newest ship, Symphony of the Seas which will become world's largest cruise ship when launched in April 2018. The cruise liner will span 16 guest decks, encompass more than 230,000 gross registered tons, carry 5,500 guests at double occupancy, and feature 2,759 staterooms — including a two-level family suite.
Symphony of the Seas, currently under construction at a shipyard in France (with exterior development completed) marks the fourth ship in Royal Caribbean’s exclusive Oasis line, and 25th ship in the company’s fleet.
Michael Bayley, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International introduced Symphony of the Seas as the "boldest composition yet, offering the best of Royal Caribbean with some new surprises for our guests to create a vacation that adventurers of all ages can enjoy together".
“We set out to create a new level of vacation adventure and deliver the ultimate escape for families of all shapes and sizes. Symphony will introduce the most cutting-edge, customizable, and digitally-enhanced experiences in the Royal Caribbean fleet.” Bayley commented
The ship has a two-level Ultimate Family Suite which spans 1,346 square feet, and can accommodate a family of up to eight in two bedrooms. The suite will feature other facilities such as an exclusive slide from the kid’s only bedroom to the living room; a floor-to-ceiling LEGO wall, an air-hockey table and hidden nooks for chilling, a 3D cinema room - complete with a popcorn machine and a library of video games, and a whirlpool on its 212 sq-ft wrap-around balcony.
With latest technological innovations such as facial recognition, bar codes and beacons, Symphony's check-in experience will be redesigned to eliminate queue. Passengers will register for an onboard accoount using a new mobile app and upload a “security selfie” prior to their arrival and head straight to their stateroom after screening.
Royal Caribbean Oasis-class ships exclusives also available in Symphony include: 10-storey Ultimate Abyss waterslide – which has a 100ft-drop, making it the tallest at sea; and robot bartenders at the Bionic Bar. The Boardwalk, one of unique seven-neighborhood concept on board, will feature a Sugar Beach candy and ice-cream shop while a new Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade will have 30 big-screen televisions to watch the “big game” from around the world. VOOM – the fastest internet at sea, state-of-the-art wayfinding and virtual balconies will also be available.
The ship boasts Seven "Neighborhoods in Perfect Sync" such as Boardwalk, Central Park, Entertainment Place, Pool and Sports Zone, Royal Promenade, Youth Zone and Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center.
Symphony of the Seas will debut in April 2018 with maiden voyage calling on ports in Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca, Spain; Provence, France; Florence/Pisa, Rome and Naples, Italy.
In early November, She is expected to arrive at Miami to begin 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries.
