An 8-year-old girl reportedly died after falling from a deck in the interior atrium to a lower deck on a Carnival Cruise ship "Carnival Glory" shortly after it arrived in Miami on Saturday, October 14.
The girl, whose identity has not been released, fell on the cruise ship while it was docked at the Dante B. Fascell Port of Miami on Saturday morning.
Miami Fire Rescue personnel responded to the scene around 8:15 a.m. ET and provided emergency care to the child, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.
“The ship’s medical team responded immediately and the child was transported to the ship’s medical center. The ship’s command immediately contacted Miami Dade Police Department which was on site. She was subsequently transferred via ambulance to a local hospital where, tragically, she succumbed to her injuries.” Carnival Cruise Lines spokesperson Jennifer de la Cruz said in a statement Saturday.

The cause of the fall is yet to be determined.
The 2,974-passenger vessel has been handed over to Carnival Cruise Lines by the authorities as Police continues the investigation.
