UAE port developer and operator, Abu Dhabi Ports has announced its order for three new tug boats from Damen and Sanmar Shipyards to service both Musaffah and Zayed Ports and further enhance Abu Dhabi Port’s existing advanced fleet.
The purchase which followed a public tender won by the two companies was revealed at Seatrade Offshore Marine & Workboats Middle East 2017 (SOMWE) held in Abu Dhabi from September 25 to 27.
Chief Marine Services Officer at Abu Dhabi Marine Services 'SAFEEN', Captain Maktoum Al Houqani said: “As part of our ambitious journey, in the past year we have made strong strides to expand our world leading service portfolio."
"We are entering a phase of expansion in our fleet capacity and capability to better cater to the growth of our ports and its customers. The new tug boats will support our ambition to be the preferred service provider at the centre of the maritime industry.” Captain Houqani added.
The three new tug boats are reportedly equipped with the latest technology with a bollard pull power of 30 tonnes.

Two tug boats have been ordered from Sanmar Shipyard and one from Damen Shipyard by the Abu Dhabi Marine Services (SAFEEN), a company wholly owned by Abu Dhabi Ports that provides marine and ancillary quayside services for vessels calling at all ports in Abu Dhabi.
